Jack & Mary Hearn

After my great uncle Jack died a few years ago I was given the task of scanning the thousands of photos he and his wife Mary had in their collection.

They loved photography, and when we were clearing their house we found boxes, bags, even suitcases, full of photograph prints and negatives. Many of them had some great details written on the backs, including dates, names and locations. Some even mention relationships between the people in the photos.

Over 3,000 images, and 8.5GB later, and I have a great digital archive of Jack and Mary's photos. But, I don't like the idea of them just sitting there on my hard drive, so I'm going to share a selection of them online.

I've already shared some of the photos in previous blog posts about them, but I've also just created a Pixelfed account - @jack_mary @pixey.org - where I'll be sharing some of the pics in an #OnThisDay format, where possible. As and when the dated photos run out, I'll see what others I can share to keep their captures of everyday life alive.
